Bhasan Char

Our History

Amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis faced by the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN), GUSS, in collaboration with BRAC and with the generous support of Global Affairs Canada and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, has undertaken a WASH Assistance project for the FDMN Refugee (RR) families in Bhasan Char Island. The project is dedicated to ensuring Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) assistance for Rohingya Refugee families in clusters 28,47-49 and 51-54. In response to the urgent needs of the displaced population, GUSS has implemented impactful measures, including the distribution of safe water preservation facilities, hygiene items, and awareness sessions on WASH, COVID-19, Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM), and waste management. The dedicated efforts extend to cleaning drainage systems, developing guidelines for waste management, and maintaining environmental compliance. GUSS is committed to empowering the Rohingya community, providing them with the resources and knowledge necessary for a healthier and more dignified life.
