The Story of Rozina Bibi

Living in the Maria village of Durgapur Upazila in Rajshahi, Rozina Bibi has two children in her family. When her son reached the age 12, she lost her husband. Her husband’s death brought financial crisis to Rozina’s family. Her son now studies in class 9 and the younger daughter is in class 1. She is barely managing the education expenses of her children.
Without any income, Rozina had been searching for a way out. This is when GUSS’s Sustainable Livelihood programme funded by BRTUK came as a ray of hope in her life. Rozina Bibi was given 35 ducks from which now she has 24. She has 2 male ducks and 22 females in her poultry farm. She receives 20/21 eggs each day which she sells at the village market at the rate of 50 taka per four of eggs.
Rozina Bibi is now another example of women who are ready to a step towards creating an independent venture for themselves. Women like her fulfills the main purpose of working towards building a stronger community to fight against poverty.
